Rummy Safety: Make a Session Exit Signal Visible

An exit signal is a preselected condition that tells you to stop playing. It can be a clock time, a number of hands, a loss of concentration, or the completion of a planned practice task. Making the signal visible reduces the chance that a result will persuade you to continue.

Choose the signal before opening a table. A time-based signal is simple: set an alarm or note the finish time. An attention-based signal might be rereading the same card, missing routine information, or feeling a strong urge to act immediately. If money is involved, set a spending boundary separately and treat it as fixed.

Place the reminder where you can see it without exposing private information. A small note saying “review and close at 10:00” is enough. Avoid using a message from another player as your reminder, because social pressure can make the signal harder to follow. Device alarms should be tested so they do not interrupt a security or payment screen unexpectedly.

When the signal appears, finish the current safe action if necessary, then stop. Do not begin another hand to recover a loss or protect a winning streak. Record the result, close the table, and check that no transaction or withdrawal is still waiting for confirmation. Sign out on shared devices and return the phone or computer to its normal state.

Review the signal after several sessions. If you repeatedly ignore it, make the boundary earlier or add a physical step such as moving away from the device. If you stop while still focused and feel the routine was useful, the signal is probably well placed. Responsible play is easier when stopping is a planned action rather than a decision made under pressure.

Tell a trusted person about the general boundary if that helps you follow it, but do not share account credentials or private payment information. If the session repeatedly continues past the signal, take a longer break from the app and review what made the boundary easy to ignore. A stop point is a support for your decision-making, not a test of willpower. Adjust the environment so the safe choice is also the simple choice.

The signal should support enjoyment, rest, and control, not add another source of pressure to the session.
